Mike and the Friendly Monster
by
Charlotte (almost 7) from Dartford

On a dark and stormy night, there was a boy called Mike laying under his cosy covers. He heard crickets croaking, owls hooting and the clock ticking.

Suddenly, the curtains began to sway and the door swung open. There stood a brown and fluffy monster. Mike and the monster both screamed and the monster rushed out of the front door and hid behind a green spikey bush.

Suddenly, a cricket jumped on the monster's back. It tickled him so he started to giggle. Mike realised that the monster was not bad after all.

Mike ran into his Mummy's and Daddy's room. "Mum, Dad, there is a friendly monster in the garden," he said in a loud voice.

Mum said, "I want to meet the monster."

Mum went out to meet the monster to say hello. The monster was shy at first but then he began to talk. He saw a bridge that he remembered. He had crossed the bridge and had arrived at Mike's house. Luckily, Mike's mum knew where the monster lived so the monster followed mum's instructions to the monster's house.

The end.
